Sky Bent

Sky bent,
Like Gulls,
But possessing no wings,
I walk the sidewalk,
Discontent,
My head tilted toward sky-things.
But the earth only holds
My indifferent feet.
My soul inside
Must struggle and beat
'Til it's out and up,
Up through the trees.
Up, up, up, with
The singing breeze.
'Til it's mingled with clouds
And birds and mist.
Oh, my soul's a searching,
Insatiable thing.
It is well that I am earthbound
And lacking wings.
Else the unending sky
Would never be high
Enough to try my wings.

Lemon tree very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet-
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
