Hanky-Palooza

I've got hankies.

Three quilted satin boxes full of hankies.

Every kind of lace and tatted trim you can imagine.

Embroidered and screen printed.
 Romantic and sweet.

So many and so charming.
Vintage hankies are very collectible.
They are so lovely, I hate just leaving them packed up.
What to do with them?  How do we put them to use?

I made a top of pieced hankies and vintage lawn fabric.

I'm always interested in good ideas for recycling these little gems.
Here are some ideas from our Etsy friends:

All great ideas!  Just beautiful!
I don't know about you, but I'm inspired!

  1. Oh my gosh I LOVE LOVE LOVE your satin boxes. I've been trying to find one of these local and they are NOT easy to come by. My goodness, 6 months I've been at it. I love the travel pillow case idea! Now I want to make two for me and hubs. Great hankies you have there. The top, is it for a girl or lady? Beautiful either way. Hugs. Tammy

  2. Tammy, I found one of those boxes not long ago at a thrift store for a couple of bucks. I bought it because my two hanky boxes were overflowing. I'll keep my eyes open for you and if I come across another, it's yours. The figural satin one was my mother's. The pieced hanky top is an adult size small.

Lemon tree very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet-
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
